L’Envol (the flight) – Resonance #10

We’ve heard it a billion times ‘Less is more’. it’s a bit of a cliché, it’s not always true, and it’s often a shortcut to say something about a very minimalist design.

As you probably know if you read the previous articles about the Resonance series, the whole concept of the pieces is to start off with an album cover, which I deconstruct until only the abstract (often very geometric) design remains.

It took me a long time to get this one right – and I believe it is, now. Get the symmetry asymmetrical enough to give a sense of movement, getting the dark yellow bright enough to give a sense of light, and getting the whole composition slightly offset to recall the unbalance of a bird taking off.

‘L’Envol’ is available in 3 different versions on francoisdomain.com and on artfinder.

L’Envol is also part of a bigger project: A Mural in Central London…
